Collection and storage of general data and information

With every visit to my website general data is automatically collected and stored in a log file. The following information is being recorded:

  • IP address of your device
  • name of the page you are visiting
  • name of file(s) accessed
  • date and time of your visit
  • data volume
  • a message that records if your access was successful (OK or error code)
  • type of browser you are using and browser version
  • operation system of your device
  • der technische Name der zuvor besuchten Seite (URL)
  • URL of the previously visited site

This information is technically required in order to display the content of my website and services correctly and are imperative when you use the internet. The data isi collected to:

  • ensure an accurate connection establishment to my website and services,
  • to ensure that you can use my website without obstruction,
  • analyse system security and stability and for further administrative purposes,
  • create aggregate usage statistics for the analysis of user behaviour and to further develop my service.

The processing of this information is based on my legitimate interest in the purposes for data collection mentioned above. I am not using this data to identify you personally. The recipient of the data is only the responsible office and possibly the data processor mentioned under collaboration with data processors. The information is used for example to fix errors, to detect hacker attacks or for legitimate investigations of government bodies.

Collection and storage of Personally Identifiable Information

“Personally Identifiable Information” means any information that can be used to identify an individual, including, but not limited to, a first and last name, an email address or other contact information, whether at work or at home. As mentioned under purpose of processing my website informs about my work and services. For that purpose I do not need to collect personally identifiable information. Therefor my website does not collect or store personally identifiable information with the exception of log data (see section “Collection and storage of general data and information”) and if you send me emails. In the latter case the website itself is not involved in collecting or storing personally identifiable information (see section “Email communications with me”).

Collaboration with Data Processors and Third Parties

My website is hosted by a GDPR-compliant processor: STRATO AG, Pascalstraße 10, 10587 Berlin, Germany.
I use Google Fonts of the company Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) for my website. For more information please see “Use of Google Fonts” further down.
Apart from the aformentioned data processors, I don’t transfer your data to any other third parties.

Email communications with me

If you click on a dedicated contact link: or any other contact buttons your email software will be activated and invites you to send your comments to a specific functional mailbox. When you send such a message, your personal data is collected only to the extent necessary to reply. If you use your email software to send me a message, please be aware that the message you send is not encrypted by default. If you want to send me personal information via email I advise you to always encrypt your messages beforehand. I will not forward your email or the data included in your email to any third parties without your consent.

If you have any questions about the processing of your email and related personal data, do not hesitate to include them in your message.

Rights of the data subject – right of access, rectification, blocking, erasure, right to object

You have the right to obtain from me free information about your personal data stored at any time. You also have the right to rectification, blocking and, with the exception of legally mandated data storage. Please contact me if you want to exercise these right. You can find the contact data above in the section “Controller”.

To fulfil your right to blocking of data, I need to store these data in a blocking file. You can demand erasure of data, unless data archival is not legally mandated. If data storage is legally mandated, I will block your data, if this is your wish. You can submit changes or a revocation of a granted consent, with effect for the future.

By contacting me using the contact data under “Processor”, you can exercise the following rights at any time:

  • Access to your personal data stored by me and their processing,
  • Rectification of inaccurate personal data,
  • Erasure of your personal data stored by me,
  • Restriction of processing of personal data, should I be legally bound to store data,
  • Object to processing of your personal data by me
  • Data transfer, provided that you have consented to the data processing or have entered into a contract with me.

If you have given consent, you can revoke consent at any time, with effect for the future. You can submit a complaint to the competent regulators at any time.

Dr. John Gledhill is not responsible for the contents of websites that are maintained by third parties and therefore waives its liability for any links from this website to other websites. When you leave my website the privacy policies of that other website apply.

Use of Google Fonts

My website uses fonts (Google Fonts) by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. I am using these fonts to ensure that my website looks the same, regardless of which device – PC, tablet, smartphone – you are viewing my website on. The use of google fonts does not require logging into to google services and google fonts don’t save any cookies on your computer. If you have an account with Google, your google account information is not being transmitted while using google fonts. Google only registers which libraries and style sheets (CSS) are used and stores this information safely.
